This is a product of the Cisco Nexus 7000 and it happens to be a data center-class product line that has been designed for highly scalable 10G Ethernet networks. It has a fabric architecture that has been designed to scale beyond 15 terabits per second. It is designed to meet some of the requirements of the mission-critical data center at the same time providing a continuous system operation as well as visualized service. Unlike most of the others, this product is based on a tested and proven operating system with certain advanced and enhanced features that are capable of delivering real-time system upgrades with little or no service disruption of any form. 

Fabric modules are connected to all the modules on the slot and the addition of one module results in the increase of bandwidth to all module slot until the exact number of modules (which is five) is completed. Additionally, the fabric module provides the central switching element for the forwarding of I/O modules. There are certain features that make this product unique and they include;

  • A midplane support system has been designed. This system according to the developers supports all technological updates as the needs of customers change. In addition, it also provides protection on investment
  • It has an integrated cable management system that has been designed to support cabling requirements of a configured system at both sides of the switch, in the process allowing for an advanced reliability level.
  • Another amazing feature of this product is the fan tray redundancy. It has been incorporated to help ensure the reliability of the system and support of the swapping of hot trays.
  • It has been designed in such a way that certain key components can be removed without affecting the cables that have been put in place.
