This happens to be a new approach to Ethernet over the traditional or older DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing). Before we get an idea of what this product does, it is best that we discuss certain issues surrounding the need for this product. Over the years the broadband data service has experienced unprecedented growth with Ethernet becoming one of the major or key tools. These two Ethernet access ports can also be equipped with DWDM XFPs that are capable of allowing direct interconnection of the Xponder. Additionally, you can have the board configured into two separate operating modes;

  1. The first operating mode is to have the Xponder act like a Layer 2 switch
  2. In the second mode, the Xponder provides or offers a one-to-one mapping between 10GB Ethernet ports in the process providing a G.709 digital wrapper.
