Being a member of the second generation of the ASR 9000 series, the A9K-MOD80-SE is a typhoon based line card. Like most of the other Service Edge (SE) Optimized line cards, this line card has been designed specifically for customer deployments that need or require an enhanced or advanced quality of service. It has been designed with customers in mind, it provides them with a flexible and convenient flexible solution multiple combinations of Ethernet ports. Like the others, this modular card has been designed to support a vast range of densities and interfaces. With benefits like low cost of starting or setting it up and ease of upgrade, this ASR 9000 serie happen to be in line with the focus of the Cisco brand which is to protect investments in addition to ensuring that broad interface is made available and consistent feature support.  

It is capable of supporting certain applications like; Internet Protocol TV (IPTV), video-on-demand, point-to-point video, cloud-based computing, and internet video. They are also capable of delivering a certain degree of scalability and high availability. They also provide a fundamental infrastructure for a scalable IP/MPLS and Carrier Ethernet networks, mobile services, profitable businesses, and residential. In addition, it is compatible with other series and users do not need to upgrade to a cooling system.

  • It is compatible with the Cisco ASR 9922, 9010, 9001, 9006 systems
